Hide & Seek

I hear the whistle blow, it's like hunger games dashing
 around like the mocking-jay.

I shoot up the tree and it starts dancing,
shh, stop, you're too loud, stop prancing.

Quickly tuck your legs in, we might get caught…
And we don't want to go back to that planning book.

Don’t move don’t talk, she might hear us.
The footsteps start to gain volume,
but then they start going back to mute.

I can't hear a sound, don't climb down you could get found,
And I don't really, want to get down unless
I hear that awesome bell.

I look around there is no soul to be found, and then I hear
“Hurry up, you do realize your time is up.”

Pokemon go good or bad?

This term I was learning to write a speech. We were learning to structure and to use language devices persuade and to connect. I think it went well because I had connection with the audience and I enjoyed it. I used many parts of the speech structure and many ideas connecting to my point of view. I used several language devices to persuade and they connected with the main idea. For example I used personification by saying all the countries are paralyzed by this new app. I connected with the audience as well I think my presentation went well because I did all of the above.

Please click here to listen to my speech or read it below.

Have you ever felt like you want something so bad you can't control yourself? Like if you're
eating a choco bar and you just keep on saying one more piece, one more piece, one more piece. 10 seconds later where did it go? Or when you're in class and you think of something funny. You know you shouldn't laugh but you can’t resist. Or when you're  at home, on your xbox, and your mum being so cacophonous as usual, yells out “You need to get of that thing and go outside!”

Sadly these things can lead to disaster like this story:  once there was a teenager playing Pokemon go. She saw a pikachu on the middle of a 6 lane highway and then a driver who was also playing pokemon go smashed into her when she was catching the pikachu. Although she didn't lose her life, sadly she lost the pikachu but the driver got it. I know, right…

This shows that citizens of a variety of countries have been paralyzed by this new app, the app that crushed candy crush. And it has happened before. Take minecraft just one block after another.

Now pokemon go has had a huge effect on the world, some things good and some things bad.  I think mostly good because it gets people outside and helps with their social skills plus it makes their dream come true of being a Pokemon master. I read about a girl who was depressed and then she played Pokemon go and she started feeling happier because she spent a lot more time with her friends and was more social and it makes you do exercise which awesome.

But no it's not all good tell me about it drowning try to catch a water Pokemon, getting fried trying to catch a fire Pokemon, falling to your death trying to find a flying Pok√®mon getting poised try to catch a poison Pokemon, getting hypnotised trying to catch a psychic pokemon getting hypothermia trying to catch a ice pokemon.  Yes I am serious…

But both ways it's a good game I think…
The game makes people happy because it makes them do exercise… unless they stick their phone to a drone and I think this makes the world a better place because it's fun.https://soundcloud.com/waimairisounds/pokemon-go-good-or-bad

Prejudice

Prejudice

Prejudice is when someone judges you about something when you don't even have any  experience of it. There's sex-ism age-ism and look-ism and much more but we don’t want any more. We want none because when you’re prejudged the effect can be not that nice. That's why we don’t want to have prejudice in our community.

Sexism is when some one judges you by what gender you are like boys are dumb or girls can’t play rugby. I can’t believe these are even a thing like why would you say that when you don’t even know them? Then there's ageism which is when someone judges you by how old you are, like if you're 18 you can’t play with nerf guns. Even if you try not to be prejudiced sometimes your brain puts these things in boxes and says this person is tall he must play basketball and I don’t like sporty people and if your brain does that you won’t get that far because you won’t make any friends. I don’t think you want that, so that's why you shouldn't be prejudiced. I think we could improve on not being prejudice by thinking twice about what we say about other people.

We interviewed lots of immigrants from different countries there are many ways we can improve on making immigrants feel included. These are some things that we can do:
Say hello
Give them a tour of the school
Make a conversation
Invite them to something
Include them
Treat them like your friend

It is important to make immigrants feel included because if we don’t they will get sad and that does not give our country a good reputation.

Mountain biking

I am so excited because today I had mountain biking! We clipped our helmets on and started to get our bikes, ‘I hoped I’d get a green one, as we waited by the shed near the forest.
As she pulled the bike out I'd the shed I saw the wheels I saw the seat and I ALSO SAW! A red bike. “Wow,” I said with a depressed face, then we all lined up in front of the inspector.

“Ok so now we are going to learn how to use our gears,. Some of you have click gears and some have twist gears. If you have click gears you click the thumb to go down a gear and click your finger to go up and if you have twist gears twist up to go up and twist down to go down,”

“Ok we got it,” yep said everyone. Then she said but whatever you do don’t change them when you are  not peddling. Then I thought to myself what happens if it breaks? Will it explode? Will the wheels fall off? WILL I DIE!??! I ask the Inspector. “Yes you will die,” she says as I think to myself are you serious! As we start to head to the track

I was learning to use punctuation and show emotion.
I think I did ok because I used punctuation some of the time but not all of the time.

Reflection

This term we have been learning about the elements of music, such as tone/rhythm/beat/dynamics/tempo/pitch. We have also been focusing on art. First we had to write a poem about where our heart lies or where we come from, and a special person in our life.

We picked one of these poems to put in our art. I choose where do I come from. I made apastel drawing of our mountain like castle rock and so on. And we had to make lots of circles in the sky like the sun. We chose warm colours and cold colours. I used cold colours for my mountain and warm colours for my sun.

We took pictures of our family and turned them into Andy Warhol's art. We also made a waka/boat and but Maori patterns on it. After that we made a river for the waka/boat, first we chose where the river will come out of then we cut a paper river and showed the teacher when we got the thumbs up we chose our material. I chose a type of foam and put the paper underneath then cut around it then. I painted it with blue paint then put some glitter on it for some sparkle. We had to stick it on, then stick our waka/boat on and then we cut out our people and put them on. We printed our poem and glued it in the corner and after we wrote our name in a creative way like block or normal or square.

During this time I made a soundscape of my poem, my one was calm and happy. I used a pig that sound like a duck to make it sound like a duck and I made a beat like slap clap slap clap. I made a peaceful sound with the guitar and violin. Then we shared it to iMovie and made it into a video. After that we recorded us doing our Mihi using an app called aurasma. We took a photo of our poem and put our soundscape on it so when other people scan it it will start playing music. Overall I think my art was relational because my soundscape connected to my poem.
